Get a head start on the next Green Rush with a Manufacturer of supercritical CO2 and butane extraction equipment.  State of the art proven technology already implemented and operational at multiple customer sites in the US.

Founded in 2017 by an MIT PhD engineer to address the growing demand for extraction technology, this company develops industrial-grade, Supercritical CO2 extraction machinery  and PLC-controlled, automated butane extraction equipment for use in the cannabis, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, including a client's state-of-the-art GMP and EU-GMP facility. The company employed a team of best-in-class engineers and scientists armed with strong IP, to design and manufacture it's commercial extraction machines. The company offers custom or standard SKU, designed and built from the ground up fully in house.

The Company currently continues expansion of its product offering to include developing a novel environmentally friendly sterilization technology with broad potential applications in medical device sterilization. Calendar year 2020 generated $1.8MM+ in revenue. There has also been a new product launch for "high-throughput Butane extraction equipment.”

CO2 Extraction: Common use cases for the Company’s machinery include extraction of lipids, oils, resins, dyes, aromatherapy oils, food additives, cannabis and biomass. The largest target customer market utilizes the Company’s machines to extract cannabinol (“CBD”) from hemp biomass.

Supercritical CO2 extraction offers the highest efficiency for the lowest operating costs. The process is simply the best way to extract essential oils on an industrial scale. Supercritical CO2 is highly efficient, often able to extract > 98% of precious active compounds and oils. In addition, supercritical CO2 has a number of other advantages:

  • CO2costs far less than ethanol – only pennies per pound in bulk.
  • CO2leaves no residual solvents – no risk of product contamination.
  • CO2is clean and easy – no risk of contamination by pesticides, water, or other compounds.
  • CO2is easy to handle and store – no risk of fire or explosions.

Sterilization Technology: Supercritical CO2 in combination with co-solvents is used in our machines to sterilize medical devices and garments to a SAL 3 or SAL 6 level.

Butane Extraction: The company produces a Class 1 Division 1 rated, automated, PLC-controlled cryogenic butane extraction machine with several innovations to increase product repeatability and throughput. Butane extraction is the preferred extraction method for marijuana processors who want to make high value specialty extracts such as dabs, shatter and diamonds. The butane extraction machine can operate under cryogenic conditions (-80C).

The Company differentiates as follows:

  • CO2Extraction products intended for industrial Scale Production for greater than 2000+ Pounds/Day
  • 2x25L CO2Extraction products that are scalable and meet the needs of independent producers
  • 20L-120L automated, high throughput butane extractors for the marijuana industry.
  • Full engineering and design capabilities. manufacturing most major components from first principles
  • ASME and PE Certifications, TSSA, CRNs, hazardous location rating, and other third-party certifications supplied as required
  • Pricing structure is competitive with the national brands
  • Processes and equipment that provide the ability to increase throughput of the CO2 extraction process, using High Density Drying (HDD) which increases the density of biomass feedstock.  Higher density biomass means greater mass per extraction cycle and no need to increase the extraction tank volume, resulting in 80% increase in biomass density.

Acquisition Benefits

The right strategic buyer will inherit:

  • A diversified company with proven extraction equipment products.
  • A profitable company with solid IP and demonstrated ability to compete effectively, capture market share and scale exponentially as dictated by the market.
  • Lean, extremely low overhead operation that can endure market volatility, long procurement cycles and cyclical nature of agricultural commodity clientele.
  • The ability to go to market quickly and compete effectively for market share in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world
  • Quality products that can be produced at competitive prices with an established domestic (US) supply chain
  • A company with minimal debt
  • Strong technical foundation; scalable efficient machine design; core market focus and extensive hands on experience

The Company’s products would appeal to a strong & diverse customer base. Its customers typically would fall into one of the following categories

  • Commercial/Professional– biotechnology, sterilization and medical devices
  • Extraction companies– extraction of nutraceuticals and high purity compounds.
  • Diversified cannabis companies– permitted cannabis processors in many states and Canada and worldwide. Impending Federal legalization of marijuana in the United States (the MORE Act) will lead to renewed interest in the cannabis industry and massive expansion in processing capacity as producers scale up for nationwide distribution of marijuana products.

The Market

The total addressable market for scientific instruments is idiosyncratic to the particular machinery that a company produces; consequently, it varies greatly. The Scientific Instruments Index, as determined by Zack’s, has returned 9.65% year to date (as of August 23, 2019), and trades at a forward-looking P/E ratio of 23.

According to Grand View research, the global cannabis market was valued at USD 16 billion in 2020 and is anticipated to witness a lucrative CAGR of 22.2% over the forecast period. The demand for cannabis for medical and wellness purposes is high due to its healing properties, which is the key factor driving the growth of the market. Moreover, growing product adoption and utilization owing to government approvals worldwide is a major factor anticipated to drive the demand for cannabis infused products.
